    hi all
I decided to replace front calipers . I've been bleeding the brake fluid out and snapped a bleed nipple on one of the fronts , I thought about using one of the repair nipples but decided to change the fronts as they are original at 160 K and I've not long done the rears so it makes sense.
Anyway while removing the steel brake pipe from the back of one I snapped it off.
This led me to trying to undo it where it meets the rubber pipe but it seems seized there as well. I've read that the rubber pipes can break down on the inside so as I've just changed the fluid it probably makes sense to change them too.
Are these rubber pipes main dealer only?
Any tips on how to separate the rubber pipe from the steel one above it?
Also the steel pipe at the top looks a bit foosty . Where does it go as it disappears into the inner wing and I can't see it after that ?
Can this pipe be cut and joined ?
This pic shows the foosty bit of brake pipe at the top
IMG_2057.jpgFor some annoying reason this pic has rotated itself left 90 degrees! You can see the brake pipe though

    thanks

    vin

To get the steel pipe out of the flexi (Audi number 4Z7 611 707 A @ £28.93) we often have to gently warm the nut with a pin point oxy jet and a steel shield with plumbers mat behind for protection and if we do this we cut the hose off anyway to prevent a nasty bang. That brake pipe looks shot so I would be making a new one from Kunifer 10 but you can buy it genuine under 4B0 614 724 Q for £15.61, it is nearly 2m long!

A few companies that deal in the UK offer the front hoses such as ATE, FTE, Borg and Beck, Bosch, Brembo and Delphi

    hi Crasher

thanks for that , that's great info . I think for 15 quid I'd rather replace the whole pipe. Where does it go? Is it difficult to get it in place ? Where is the other end of it?

I think if if it's not to difficult to get in place I would just replace both of them .

    thanks

What's the easiest way to repair it? is there enough room to make a joint on the pipe anywhere other than taking the whole thing out ? if your saying it's awful it doesn't sound like a job i can do with it sitting up on blocks in my driveway !

    cheers

Joints are neither desirable or correct but sometimes very tempting…. They must be flare coupled though, the old olive method is now not acceptable so that means making a flare on the car. I take the pipe out and copy it in Kunifer 10. No hang on, I’m lying, I say “you, change pipe” and go and sit and have a coffee and talk to you lot…

What needs to be removed to get access to the pipe if I decide to replace it?
Can a new pipe be rerouted via an easier route?
If I decide to do a flange joint is there enough room on the pipe before it passes into the inner wing ? As in the pic

    cheers
