2012 VW Passat 2.0 TDI B7 Manual - Best gearbox oil??

Hi guys,

can anyone advise which is the best replacement gearbox oil for my 2012 Passat 2.0 TDI B7 (6 speed manual). The dealer wants £20 per litre, part no / spec. G 052171. There are many compatible replacements from - Millers, Fuchs, Castrol, SWAG, etc, etc. Charging around £8 to £12 per litre.

Anyone changed their oil with a suitable quality replacement??

Any advice welcome.

I have not changed mine but will do soon. Googling seems to point at Fuchs 75W.

Red Line MT90

Steve , stop recomending that thick Red Line MT90 stuff , it's not a G 052 171 substitute , it's 90 centiStokes @ 40°C that's thick even for a G 052 911 , the correct oil is a 70W75 not a 75W90 .

I would use Fuchs Titan Sintofluid FE SAE 75W which is 40.8 centiStokes @ 40°C .

After to speaking to many individuals and as many opinions, i decided to play it safe and stick with the dealer oil (which some say is Castrol supplied!?).

Managed to get a bottle cheap on ebay (ex stock) and 2 from the dealer.
