    Hello!
I bought an -09 A6 a couple of days ago but it has already started to give me issues.

This morning i was going to move my car a bit but it wouldn't unlock with the fob, i opened it using the key in the door but when i tried to turn on the ignition, nothing happened. I then tried to remove the key but it was stuck, had to push in the small hole.
Nothing works in the car when the key is inserted. Only some lights on dashboard, no radio or interior lights.

What could the problem be? , bad battery in key? Bad battery in car? Something else?

Yes, it was the battery. Had to crawl my way through the car to reach it but after connecting the charger, I was able to unlock it so success!
The symptoms wasn't like any dead battery I've seen before so now i have to figure out why it was drained. 😊

I've had weird symptoms with a dying battery as well. not like the old days when the thing would still chug over.

    2006 A6 Avant - same symptoms !

I parked for 4 days at the airport. The car wouldn't unlock via fob, using key lock to open driver's door. No interior lights. No hazard light. No park brake led. Only 3 instrument dial lights on. With the key inserted in ignition switch, absolutely no systems power up. Key turning produced no ignition and certainly no engine cranking. Key then stuck in the switch.

The key was released by using the tiny button in the ignition switch bezel.

Breakdown Service attended and diagnosed completely flat battery. Then connected emergency 12v power pack to the battery terminals located in the engine bay. Car started immediately. With the engine running and the MMI screen now operating, the Battery Level indicator was at zero. Battery recharged on the 2hour drive home.

Airport parking facilities are pretty lonely places ar 2am! But thanks to this post I'm home and in good humour!
