Hi, Yes that is the car, I have a few things to check tomorrow

Air leaks, I already have, but only visual ( smoke test tomorrow )

egr valve test ? do you think this could be the problem?

air fuel sensor, Still not sure how to test this, I have the details of the voltages at the pins from autodata , but the wiring diagram and test precedures are for a 6 wire sensor.

I think I am strugling withe Verus because I am not selecting the correct engine, I dont get the option of the BKY, so I am not getting the correct pids available.

I could use vag com but i dont know where to start.

So, a 2005 model automatic, makes a difference.

The lambda sensor used is a first generation NTK AFR type NGK - Broadband lambda sensor

The car is incorrectly registered as an EU3 model, this will become a problem when entering the new Toxicity zones around the UK where EU4 petrol is the minimum standard without having to pay a tenner or so per day so you should get onto the DVLA about having this altered.

VW provide no protocol for the testing of the G39 Lambda sensor, they tell you to use Guided Fault Finding which is what the dealers use, I have it now as well but among independents it is rare.

They do provide a test for Seat and Skoda with the same engine so I have reproduced it for you here but edited to remove links you can't access and engine versions you don't need, I have made it specific to the BKY but note there are some differences on the auto

When you have done this I will post the EGR tests

With it still in Basic Settings 075, take it for a run,get it upto a decent speed and in 4th gear plus if you can going down a long hill, release the throttle and let the car run down under engine braking and the display should go from off to on to passed or fail.

Hi Sorry it has been so long, I got fed up with it, and now I am back on thee case, this is what I have so far.
smoke test, can see any leaks
Lambda sensor pre cat taken it out and it reads VW AG 036 906 262 T NTK japan Just in case this is the wrong sensor

Started to read some of the blocks to start with I have these

    Block 002 480 mbar

    Block 030 1/ 111 2/ 110

    Block 032 no values whatsoever 0% 0%

    Block 033 1/ 0% 2/ 0.26V

Block 036 test works great B1-S2-Ok

    Block 034 Not working

    Block )46 Not working

Do I carry on or do we see something wrong

030 1 & 2 show the sensors are both working, 032 zones 2 & 3 showing 0% is perfect 033 is spot on. 036 is B1S1 036 is B1S2 and 046 takes ages but is 036 is not happy it won’t run. It probably means your cat is FUBAR after running so badly. How is it running now and do you have any codes?
