    Fiat polo 2003 1.2 think that makes it a mk4 9n
Just replaced the bulbs in middle brake light they are the very small bulbs 17mm long and about 4mm across they have bent wire for connections not bayonets there are about 15 in total. I replaced about 6 . On previous cars i found these bulbs in dashboards and dials etc.
My Q is ALL the bulbs in there had a top that looked like metal i.e. shiney silvery. I think that is just 15 years of ware and heat but I may be wrong.I think they started life clear (thats what i put in) and have since worn and discoloured. The bulb details are 12v 1.2w was that the right ones.I watched a video by a german which shows how to do it his choice of music is not ideal but better than a german voice i dont understand.

Thanks for the info crasher didn't realise they come in various watts. Will run it for a while and if they start blowing will replace them.As the ones I've put in are a lower watt they are more likely to blow anyway I assume.I don't recommend to anyone putting in the wrong bulbs but as I've done it I will suck it and see polos ay. Thanks again for the correct bulb code crasher

Could you please enlighten me on that as my basic idea on electrics is lesser is better i.e. would replace a 13 amp fuse with a 5 amp one as a temporary measure but wouldn't replace a 5 amp fuse with a 13 amp one under any circumstance. Which makes me wonder how a 1.2 w bulb will be harder to blow than a 2.3 w bulb.
