Hi folks, great site, sure I will get some good info from here !

    1996 A4 B5 2.6 Quattro

Just bought the above and although not really mechanically switched on, Im having a go !

I need to replace the following and dont really know what they are called, here goes.....

1st part is No. 078 121 350 , a circular thing with teath on and 4 fixing points, may be called a viscous hub/fan.......
behind and attached this is a black pulley about 4 inch in diamater and an inch wide
behind and attached to this is some sort of engine mounting with a bearing in it and can maybe just make the number out as 078 121 235

Jesus, how embarassing...... The first part 078 121 350 seems ok, its the other 2 parts that are *******, but thought best to replace all 3.
Have phoned Audi up and they wernt that helpfull (no wonder with a Prat like me on phone), but they did say it would be a Back Order and
could give no idea of if or when it could be delivered.

Can anyone suggest what exactly they are called and where I could get them from, have combed the usual auction sites, no good.

    Cheers

    Hi and welcome.
I'm not familiar with that engine but the part you describe is the fan pulley assembly. I'm presuming you're looking to change this due to a noisy bearing? Unless the viscous fan hub is damaged or leaking then it should be ok and no need to replace.
Have a look here, I think this is typically the part you need, not an endorsement of this supplier, just a typical link you should be able to find plenty more from many suppliers, avoid the dealership for parts like this at that age car IMO. You could also try breaker sites as the part seems to be common across passats as well.
you'll need a viscous hub tool to remove the hub from the pulley, look on youtube for vids.
