Finally had a few VCDS mods done and have Audi connect sorted etc.

Now thinking about a removable tuning chip and was wondering if anyone else has one fitted and if there are any recommendations.

A couple of people I know have used CHIP Express, and had good results in an A3 and an A5.

Any recommendations for a stock A7 (204bhp non Quattro)

I was interested in this too, was thinking of a revo stage 1 but like the idea of a plug and play chip tune that you can easily remove putting things back to standard

Depends on what tuning box you get , a tri channel would be best .

The trouble with any box they fool the fuel rail pressure sensor into requesting more pressure thus fuel , the extra fuel used isn't accounted by the ecu and will be a mpg loss not a gain as indicated .

Single channel resistor rail pressure fooler will make the fueling rich and have more soot for the dpf to deal with .

A tri channel has boost pressure adjustment to help .

    • CRD-3 Tri-Channel Common Rail, Boost & RPM Tuning System for advanced driveability
    • Push Button Map Selection

I have just emailed Chip Express to get a bit more info from them. I will update if i get something back. All reports i can find online are positive and drivers reported more responsive car, smoother power delivery and increased economy. No real technical results i can find, just drivers own impressions. I know 2 people with them (A5 and an A3) and they swear by them.

Reply this morning from Chip Express. Our chips are DPF, EGR, EGT and ECU safe.
The CHIP Express™ system works to take advantage of the engines lean running to enhance performance via the re-configuration of the injection system, all within the safe parameters of the engine. Superior atomisation provides uniform and optimised combustion during each injector duty cycle, for better performance efficiency at all engine speeds, as a result of this turbo boost pressure levels will also build up much sooner without exceeding safe limits, reducing throttle lag and making for a more linear power delivery.

    Some customer feedback:

Neil from Milnathort with a Audi A7 MK1 3.0 TDI 204 said: My chip on the Audi A7 was perfect in every way, instant power and on average a minimum of an additional 6 mpg. Never had a problem from easy fitting to recent removal. I recently sold my Audi A7 and bought a Volkswagen Touareg 3.0 TDI. As I wanted to chip my VW I asked for advice as to whether I could swap this onto my new car, fully expecting that the chip may need reprogramming at a price, not so! CHIP Express confirmed that the chip will plug and play without any need for adjustments as both the Audi and Volkswagen use the same engine. I cannot recommend the product and company highly enough. Don't go for cheap and nasty. Go for trusted service, absolute honesty and reliability from the guys who know!

Thats sounds like a bit vague sales pitch. Ask them if their system is a dual or tri channel as mentioned by Gazwould, it would be interesting to know. I see Racechip offer engine warranty with their chip installation

Just remember these better mpg are completely false , the fuel rail pressure is fooled thus the ecu's fuel accounting is fooled .

It's so simple to tune a diesel , just inject more fuel .
