    Hi fellow members,

I've been looking to get an Audi Quattro within a budget of £6K and I've found one. It's a 2006 A4 3.2 FSI S line Quattro Triptronic with 77000 miles on it. It's from a trade dealer north east of London and they say it has full service history.

Since I live about 3hours away from this dealer I paid a deposit (refundable) of £250 to reserve the vehicle as this was the only 3L Quattro I could find in my budget.

I plan to go over their sometime this week to px my Chevvy and collect the A4. Could anyone please give me some tips on what I should check with the vehicle static and also while test driving?
    Any advice is highly appreciated.

Make sure the car is stone cold when you start it and listen carefully for chain rattle.

As Chris says, chain rattle is the main concern. Make sure the gears shift smoothly up and down as well.

I have the exact same car but the 2.0 tfsi engine.
Like the guys say make sure that the cam chain has been replaced along with the water pump at the correct intervals. This is based on mileage or time. Budget approx £350-400 if it's not been done.
Look for water under the battery from blocked drainage holes in the plenum chamber.
I've had a cracked ECU cover which caused issues.
Also water in the wheel well for the spare wheel.

For most Audis in the 2000-2009 model range, always, ALWAYS check the front suspension. It is a 4 link system that has a bad rep of wearing quickly, which will cause the steering to be loose, some rattling in the front, and can be expensive to have replaced at the shop...(averages about 1000-1500Euros here) Not sure of UK pricing, but it DOES appear that most of the stuff I see here (Germany) is cheaper in the UK. Still, not something I would want to be stuck with.
