Audi B8 A4 with only 65k 2008. Only done 3000 miles in the last year. And not many more the year before.

Am am I asking for trouble? And if do what would it cost to regen a DPF for this car?

    Any help much appreciated

I have a similar car and mileage - 58 plate diesel with 60k on the clock.

Recently i've been doing low mileage, mostly driving around town, around 5000 miles last year. Never had a problem with the DPF, and never needed to do a forced regen. I occasionally do a short motorway drive to where I need to go, but no more than once a month. I can tell when the car is regenerating in traffic, as the idle revs go up and the engine is a bit noisier, so I know it does regen automatically.

I've been reading on various posts about how the emissions software update is leading to more regens, DPF problems and putting extra load on components, such as the EGR, so I'm not going for the software update.

Oh bugger. I was pleased with this info until the last bit. This car has had the software update 😱
