I've fitted some V6 TDi badges to the wings of my A6 biturbo.

Now, before anyone says anything about why am I doing that...

    1. They are fitted to the Euro A6 Competition version of this car with the same engine, and the SQ5 again with the same engine.
    2. It was that, or get my wings painted.

So, when I ordered my car, i kindly asked the dealer to ask the factory to not stick the S-line badges on the wings. I thought I was quite specific. Don't put them on. Is that ok. Yes sir. Of course it is. Excellent.

Car arrives and the badges are not on the wings. Excellent I think. Until I notice the scratches. Someone let the boss-eyed apprentice loose on my brand new motor and gave him a screwdriver to do the task. Now I may be embellishing a little here, But basically there were lots of scratches in the clear coat all round where the badges would have been and on both sides a couple of scratches through the paint to metal. It looked a complete mess, especially in the sun.

Lots of arguing with the Dealer and then the PDI manager and thankfully I can say as far as that is concerned, we have reached a satisfactory conclusion. My trouble then was to decide what to do. 3 reputable bodyshops all said it needs spraying, including blending into the doors and bonnet. There is no way I am doing that on a new car, so decided the easiest option was to stick some badges back on to cover the admittedly very small scratches that remain.

I've had the wings sanded and polished and they did a fantastic job. All the clear coat ones are gone and they didn't have to sand too deep so that was a good result.

Rather than stick the bloody S-line badges back on, that I never wanted anyway, I went for the V6 T badges which as mentioned above, are fitted to such diseasal cars in Europe. As well as the S6.

So, after all that boring waffle, here are the before and after pictures...

Part of me still really likes the de-badged look, but I can't get away from not wanting to see the little scratch on each wing each time I clean it.

Interesting, I've toyed with the idea of removing the SLine badges and replacing with Quattro ones on my previous A6, but as also have the BiTdi, this is another option, as I just don't get putting badges on the front wings that indicate the trim level of the car.

I like the idea of it being an OE badge, that in different markets exist, eg the Competition one you mention. The front wings look a bit plain without anything.

My preference was plain without anything, but I liked these the most from other options. I think the S-line badges aren't that great and are so common on almost all Audis on the road.
It also seems silly to only have the V6T badge under the bonnet! We should have something to indicate it isn't just a 2.0 TDi (apart from the bigger brakes, which most people won't notice anyway).

Yes, agree with all that, especially distinguishing from other engined cars! Got me thinking now.

I've decided since yesterday I really like these badges. It does break up the large red panel and when parked next to a black S-Line today, look miles better than the S-line ones. In red too, it looks quite sporty. And with the Kufatec exhaust sound booster in setting 5, it definitely isn't discreet

Personally like the debadged look but yours look better than the ubiquitous S Line badge. Wonder if it should actually be "V6 TT" as it is a biturbo, or too naf?

Me too!!! That's the look I was going for and to be honest would have been happy with.

Maybe I should have pinched a 'biturbo' badge from a Merc AMG!!! Been really different 🤣

Ive just got one in black and that came with the V6T badge on the side, think the previous owner felt the same and I really like it myself think it sets it apart from all the other Sline's

I'm really loving mine now. That combined with the sound booster on the exhaust really draws attention lol. I'm just a big kid really... 😂
