audi a4 2ltr tdi s line 2006 running problems.

hi all.

new here but in need of some help please.

car audi a4 2ltr tdi s line 2006 lost some power a few days ago(no eml on). pulled over turned it off and then re started it and it was ok again.
yesterday it came to a stop and would not start agian. still not showing any error codes. it turns over and tries to start spluttering its way to about 800 rpm then stalls. i use to be a mechanic years ago so things have change alot but it sounded like fuel to me. i checked the fuel filter and the diesel was slightly black. did a bit of research and thought it could be tandem pump. fitted a new one today with new fuel filter but still having same symptons. i can here the lift pump working but not sure about pressure but filter remains full. it does make a gushing noise at times though. have remove power to each injector one by one but still the same. would appreciate any help on this matter. tia not sure if its ok to post this here. sorry if not.

I take it you've not got anything to scan the vehicle so you could check the simple things first,on the inlet manifold check the anti shudder vale is in the open position,and check the egr isn't passing,it would most likely need a decoke anyways so would be worth doing.

i have a cheap code reader but its not showing any codes at all. i have removed the egr valve and cleaned it all out.
whats the best way to test the lift pump.

A cheap code reader is no good. Get a proper reading.
Check under the scuttle panel for pooling water due to blocked drains.

You can test the lift pump by disconnecting the feed to the fuel filter and put a jar under it and cycle the ignition,on/off,check the manifold flap next to the egr is open,you can test if its fuel related by squirting a bit of solvent in the intake while cranking see if it will fire,just a bit mind.Have a look for someone with vcds in your location get a full read.

had a vcds read done. although he didnt no how to use it. no codes error codes still. not sure if he could have tested it on cranking or not. just got hold of a snap on reader showing the same. here on some data i got whilst cranking.

The snap on should do it look for fault codes.

hio again have now worked out my dpf is that blocked its choking up the car to stop it starting. disconnect it from the turbo and she fires straight up. the big question how do you actually remove this from the car. do i have to remove anything else or should it slide out from top/bottom.
