First week with my 3.00 Tdi Quattro

I picked up a 2012 3.0 Tdi Quattro last week and have done just over 1000 miles since. I had my first dealing with audi dealer today with mixed results. I wanted to get auto box service and at £200 was very pleased. The MMI update as a different matter. I have a really old version and after putting sim into dash found my phone no longer makes calls ( only using card in dash). Looking into this I believe it can be sorted with MMI update. While in dealer booking gearbox oil change I asked about how to get MMI update disks. After about 10 mins of head scratching gut comes out with price of £350 !! Turned out to be map update. I said all I wanted was MMI update for now. I was told in end that they would have to put it on diagnostic system and find fault. FFS. I think ill just leave dealers out of updates now and download and do them myself. Apart from that very impressed whit ride and Mpg. Got 52mpg coming back home last night (65 mph cruse all the way). Got a few jobs planned for weekend, Dash cam fitting, new number plates and full detail and recoating with nano coatings and if time oil and filter change.

Had same problem a few years back. I wanted MMI update for exactly same reason when putting a sim card in. I had to invent an ipod connection issue to get it done under warranty. They tried their hardest to refuse, even made me film the fault, which I managed to 'create'. Daft really I offered to by the update, but said part number of update wasn't a general sale item, only to the workshop or other garage.

I think it will be my last visit to dealers. Gearbox oil change seems a good price but not helpful at all about mmi. The vw dealer just around corner always helped when I was doing upgrades to my passat. The other thing I noticed at dealer was a new tt undergoing diagnostic work with laptop sitting on roof. Not a good sign really. I have map updates coming with mmi updates so hopefully this will cure that problem.
