Thinking of finally getting rid of the well used B5.5 In reasonably good nick for it's age, 155K miles, wings done, fully maintained (by me) with 507 oil and filter every 10K miles and everything else to schedule. Belts done 2 years ago. Any idea what sort of value I should put on it as I have valuations ranging from £300 to 2500. Anyone sold one recently and if so for what sort of money?

Depends on condition, but i'd say 1500-2000.

I've seen tidy low milers (sub 100k) up for 3 to 5 k, but doubt anyone is paying 5k for one these days, Theres currently one on autotrader for 4990 with 56k miles! I bought my 05 plate highline with 114k miles for £2.5k nearly 3 years ago. Maybe worth 1k these days, depends entirely on condition and the buyer, i was offered 800 trade in for mine against a 7k octavia estate last month.
What are you replacing it with?

Haven't decided yet. The list is (all estate) Mondeo, Passat, A6, E250, V70, Superb and have also considered Citroen C5 and Pug 508SW as they are ridiculously cheap. I'm leaning to the V70 as I've always fancied a Volvo (sad but true). I am allocating up to £10K which gives me enough for any of these but makes a big diff on how old and what mileage. Probably at auction or a private sale.

I've had Passat B5/5.5 for the last 15 years and they have been great workhorses but I'm not so sure about the reliability of the B7 and I have never liked VW as a service provider (since the cambelt went on the first B5 1.8-20v and VW refused to have anything to do with it even though it was within the quoted mileage at the time) but luckily there is so much support and info out there from indies and forums that I have always managed to fettle any issues myself with minimal cost (including the cambelt and trashed head issue!

Knowing these cars like I know mine, I'm leaning towards a 190k miler being worth more than a 90k miler... chances are the majority has all been done by 190k if it's still on the road lmfao. Couldn't be buying one at 80-90k miles knowing what lies ahead hahaha oh dear.
