    I agree just did 4000 miles round Europe in 22 days, didn't miss a beat, although I just realised it needs a new alternator clutch. As solid a motor as was ever made and a lot comfier than moderns.

    Yep, the alternator clutch went on mine too. I actually replaced the whole alternator with a fully reconditioned OEM Valeo unit for £75 with 2 year g'tee from Schmitz rotary engineering, who I found on fleabay. Highly recommended

    Well I think your right a well looked after b5 will set you back more than the newer variant, which I guess says alot for the build quality.

    I think B5.5's should book higher than B6 because...

    They are more reliable , better built , do more mpg .

    There was very little forward evolution with the B6 , it wasn't anymore comfortable and gained weight .

    The engine was smoother due to twin Lancaster balancer shafts but that has it's own terminal issues .
