For those interested in the Q7 Matrix upgrade, you definitely need "additional" LWR (Headlight Auto-levelling sensors) on the front axles. It appears that for LED and the standard lights (xenon), Audi only install the auto-levelling sensors on the rear axle. What confused me was that the PR codes on an LED headlight car and a Matrix LED headlight car are the SAME (FAMILY:LWR / PR-8Q3: Automatic headlight range adjustment dynamic (self-adjusting while driving)). This made me assume that I had the front sensors. so to be certain, I accessed J393 and found that I DIDN'T have the 3 wires for the front auto-levelling sensor.. damn. Good thing is, the sensor is the same as the A4 (8W) one so they are readily available on ebay germany. Part 4M0 907 504 A => which is now superseded to the specific Q7 4M left and right hand side ones: 4M0 941 285 C (left side) & 4M0 941 286 C (right side). I think 4M0 907 504 A was only every LEFT hand side... So if you have air-suspension, you will need specific right hand side sensors!

referring to the wiring diagrams, the auto-levelling sensors either go back to the J393 BCM2 (Body control Module 2) in the boot (left hand side under rear fuse box) or if you have air-suspension they run back to J774 Chassis control unit. This is where it gets interesting, with standard suspension, you only need a rear left hand side sensor and a front left hand side sensor (so 2 sensors in total). If you have air-suspension, then you need four sensors, one for every wheel arch...

From a coding point of view, it appears you need to code the J393 for the additional front sensor(s) [or J774 if you have air suspension], the front camera A5 and finally J519 (BCM1) which controls the headlights. From a calibration point of view, as soon as you configure A5 for Matrix lights it will want to be calibrated. This can be done with the calibration board schematics that are avaialble on the forum. Then J519 needs to be calibrated which requires specialist calibration kit found at the dealers workshop.

Also remember, when getting Matrix Headlights, make sure you get either LHD or RHD versions. They are NOT THE SAME. The low beam cut-off is different on both. As I have posted earlier, the lights unfortunately share the same neutral 4M0 part number. Its the final letter that determines whether they are LHD or RHD versions... I don't know why there is a different versoin for PHEV cars as I thought all electronics were still 12V? For non-etron, you want the PR-0K0 version of the headlight as well.

Here are some part numbers with associated PR codes:

    4m0 941 783 - Left Headlight (PR-AV1 + 0K0,0K4) ** Driving on RIGHT
    4m0 941 783 C - Left Headlight (PR-AV1 + 0K3) ** Driving on RIGHT
    4m0 941 783 A - Left Headlight (PR-AV0 + 0K0, 0K4) ** Driving on LEFT
    4m0 941 783 D - Left Headlight (PR-AV0 + 0K3) ** Driving on LEFT

    4m0 941 784 - Right Headlight (PR-AV1 + 0K0,0K4)
    4m0 941 784 C - Right Headlight (PR-AV1 + 0K3)
    4m0 941 784 A - Right Headlight (PR-AV0 + 0K0, 0K4)
    4m0 941 784 D - Right Headlight (PR-AV0 + 0K3)

Family: LRV (driving on the left/on the right)
PR-AV0 - Driving on the LEFT
PR-Av1 - Driving on the RIGHT

    Family: ASY (Alternative drive system)
PR-0K0 - Without alternative drive system
PR-0K3 - Hybrid propulstion system PHEV
PR-0K4 - Hybrid propulsion system MHEV

    Family: HSW (Headlamps)
    PR-8IT - LED headlamps

    Family: LIA (Light control systems)
    PR-8G4 - Matrix beam

    Hey Tezargh,

You have factory fitted ambient lighting (PR-QQ2) in your Q7? On the individual colour settings, do you have purple as a selectable colour on the far left? I have retrofitted but don't appear to have the same colour palette as the cars in the UK/Europe.

    cheers
    A

Do you have VCDS? Can you PM your full scan and also admap captures for 5F and 09?

Hi Mate, sorry for late reply. i only have vag can pro, i can send you a scan if that helps. not sure how i can do admap captures. i have also been busy retrofitting bang and olufsen, did it completely to factory spec with all wiring done properly under the carpet, along proper channels and pinned properly. it all works great

That would be great. B&O...nice. Did you have BOSE or standard MIB2 amp? If standard MIB2 thats quite a bit of wiring... I went from Standard to BOSE. Any need to update dataset settings on 5F?

Ok, I'll go out tomorrow and do some scans etc.

I had factory Bose, purchased all the components overseas and the seller provided full Q7 main loom and door wiring. I also purchased a dash loom from a B&O car. I removed all the wiring and we ran it all through the car via the factory channels. We didn't reuse any bose wiring as it would have just been too much of a pita to keep half of it and run others as b&o wiring was thicker.

We also ran a 8mm power from the same main fuse at the battery that runs factory b&o and added the 50amp fuse as per factory, i got the fuse and holder from donor loom. fortunately the door wiring from donor car supported pr-qq2 so we just swapped them over and repinned the rear door lock connectors as australian cars don't have safelock and donor car had it.

As for 5f, i don't believe that it was required. I powered on after wiring and the amp just started working although cp was only allowing the left side and no sub to operated. My contact in poland removed cp and all was good. I didn't get any dataset issues before he removed cp, i reckon this is because i already had bose.

It was a big job and thanks to my mate gerard who help out greatly.

Wow, big job. You would have had to pull our seats and dash to get the OEM loom into the car?? As BOSE is in the back of the car I would have thought you would have used the majority of the existing wiring as B&O only adds a couple more speakers. I've half done BOSE and was trying to use the cabling to the MIB2 with a jumper cable I made to take the speaker cables from the MIB2. It is painful so thinking I'll just run new cables direct from the doors and front of car to the amp... lots of cloth tape BUT at least I know and can test the installation a speaker at a time. Will need to cut the headliner for the top rear surround speakers but there are marks in the liner where they must press the holes out for B&O and BOSE at the factory that makes the headliners.

Anyway, nice one. I'll use my VCP this morning and see whether I can find where the dataset info for the different controllers turns up.

Is the sound that much better with B&O than BOSE? I suppose you can now sell your BOSE with full loom which would be appealing for retrofitters... Did you take pictures as you went?

1st and second row seats removed, part of the rear centre console to access rear part of carpet so it could be folded up. we used all b&o wiring as wire sizes were different. the 4 additional speakers are two in the roof and 1 each in the rear doors. how are you planning to run the cables? the factory wires run up over left wheel down to just in front of 2nd row, from there it either goes straight ahead for front left speakers, centre and mic or turns right for the right b pillar and right front. the diag green/purple wire also goes up to the front via the right. i used 4 x 25m tesa cloth tape. you can get the bose and b&o grills as spare parts and the clamping washers. I am just about to order the b&o ones as roof has extra speaker that won't fit into bose cutout.

the sound is leaps and bounds over bose, i did a side by side comparison between mine and my mate gerards who pretty much did the trim removal, seat removal for me. i don't have the factory loom as it isn't possible to cut that out of the main loom without a lot of effort and too high risk to damage other wires. I don't have many pictures apart from one with the whole car apart. if you need any specific information on running of wires etc then happy to discuss and help with pinning them through doors etc.
