Nice, i want to do night vision, i was going to purchase the controller and camera of ebay and maybe do it at some point, wiring for can bus, power and to the wrong doesn't look that hard. Forgot to mention mine was the 200kw as the Virtual Cockpit was a must have

My todo right now is pretty much soft close, i have all the parts, just need to do it at some point.

    I have retrofitted:
    1) ambient lighting now but need to install the illuminated door sills (I have some of these to sell as well ;-) ) and door handle apron lighting
    2) Phone Box (wireless charging)
    3) BOSE - 50% - going to re-run cabling as was using the standard cabling going to MBI2 but hard to troubleshoot. Need to remove headliner and cut holes for speaker grilles and install the grilles.
    4) chipped - 240Kw

    To be done:
    1) Night Vision (have parts. Controller installed under passenger seat. Just need to install camera - will do with Matrix Lights).
    2) Matrix Lights (have lights, wiring done except for front sensor to J393 - have parts and front left LWR sensor installed)
    3) HUD (have dash and HUD)
    4) Soft close doors. (have parts - need to install)

    Would love:
Massage seats with venting... but where do you stop. Maybe B&O ;-)

Just a note on HUD. As far as I know you need new windscreen glass as well. The HUD has special windscreen glass, also for install the HUD the windscreen should be taken out as per Elsawin.

I know... ;-) HUD can be installed (and needs to be installed) by removing the dashpanel as you need to install its brackets and the mounting points underneath dash. Myabe my windscreen gets cracked and gets replaced with insurance ;-)
    .
On NV, you need some cat6 twisted pair (a pair) and run from Virtual Cockpit to controller underneath passenger seat. Twisted pair has same characteristics as flexRay cable... I just need to run the loom for front left sensor to J393 prior to installing Matrix at which time I will install NV.

    Hi spyderboyant,

Will be very interested in all of the ambient lighting parts that you have available. We should catch up as I'm in Sydney as well.
I'm Gerard who helped Booba with his BO installation.

Damn, I have 20+ q7 4M VCDS scans and only one, a retrofit, with Matrix and steel springs!

I wasn't going to go down the ambient lighting path but Andy suggested it as he likes it. There is quite a bit of work and lots of pieces. The biggest PITA is the fact you cannot get the ambient background strips for the doors (and the wiring diagrams and factory info are cryptic - but I sorted all that out now). You need to purchase new doors cards $$$. Having said that I have shaped some perspex rods in their place and they work fine (not as good as the original however). I have the silver top/dark silver bottom trim and have just got some brushed aluminium trim so will be selling quite a bit of the ambient lighting with the silver finish so if your mate is interested let me know. He will need:

    a. Drivers vent with light strip. RHD variant
    b. passenger AC vent with light strip - expensive. RHD variant (I bought a LHD ambient from ebay.de and RHD standard LED ebay.co.uk and swapped the LEDs) *** Note LEDs are internally numbered. You need the correct ones for J519 to send colour info to them! They are on a LIN BUS
    c. Light strips for side of centre console (they fit into existing centre console). Need to purchase
    d) top centre console with light strip and RGB LED. RHD variant required (I'll be selling one of these - silver colour)
    e) back light strip for back of centre console (I'll be selling this with above)
    f) exit warning door panels (x4) << If you have exit warning/side assist you already have the correct ones.
    g) 4 x LEDs for exit warning strip (I'll be selling 2 of these)
    h) 4 x RGB LEDs for door ambient/background lighting (I'll be selling 4)
    i) 4 x makeshift perspex rods to go into door for above LEDs (I'll be selling 4 of these)
    J) Vag Can Pro (VCP) to download updates to dataset to J519 to instuct 5F on ambient light settings for Q7 4M (Yes J519 tells 5F over CAN). Once I updated my dataset on J519 the menu changed in 5F to the correct one!

then the looms..... Power for lights and also LIN bus come from J519 at bottom of passengar a-pillar. This needs to be run around car.. since you did B&O it shouldnt be that difficult.

For those interested in this upgrade and with standard suspension. The following two bytes need changing (after installing front left level sensor)

    J393: Byte17: Bit 0-1: sensor_headlight_range_control_installed: [03] - front and rear (*other options [00] - no sensors [01] - front [02] - rear (LED and BiXenon default)

I can confirm that when I made the change to [02] without the front sensor installed I instantly get an "open circuit to front left level sensor" in J393

** Air suspension = [00] - no sensors (as information comes from J774 chassis control unit)

    J519: Byte30: Bit 1-3: Chassis_sensor_config : [0C]=raw_chassis_values_bcm2_2FNS from [0A]=raw_chassis_values_bcm2_1FNS <<< change from 1 sensor to 2 with info coming from BCM2 = J393!

On air suspension cars the sensor information comes from the chassis control unit 774. J519 in this instance is coded with: [08]=raw_chassis_values

*Note: I note from the config from another car that had matrix lights retroffited (and I was told it worked without errors), did have J519 changed and the front left sensor installed but J393 still had [02] - Rear coded. This doesn't make sense to me and I'm going to code correctly with front and rear. J393 needs to have its coding changed to reflect that it has that additional sensor.

My 2017 S5 has the massage seats, I occasionally mess with them but most of the time forget that it even has them.

I'm back onto my Matrix headlight retrofit. I currently have the following errors. Has anyone else tried the Matrix retrofit? Wondering whether there might be a "dataset" update required on J519 as I am getting an error on A5 talking of "false coding" for the headlights + basic settings (which makes sense). On J519 I also get a "received error" off the databus (which would be the direct Flexray from A5 to J519 I reckon". I think this is the error from A5 camera. I need to find out what this "false" coding error is... Looking closely I see that the databus errors are both for U1123...

Continuing, I have now realised the source of the errors are the high beam light controllers D6 and D7 (as seen below). These errors are thrown onto the bus and received by J519 and A5 camera and reported as "databus receive errors". I definitely now believe that this is a dataset issue between J519 and these controllers as my car has standard LED headlights and when talking to the matrix headlight controllers (came with the lights), it thinks it is talking to the standard LED ones (although the coding has been changed correctly) and the controllers are complaining. VCP have an option in the dataset update for J519 for LED_MXB.

Datasets are making retrofits harder and harder as this is how the same components can be used in multiple car chassis ...
