    Hi,

just got a 4 month old sharan from a vw dealer. Lovely DSG SE Nav model. However two things seem amiss but are they normal?

Firstly the DSG - when I stop the car and select reverse the Stop Start mode briefly kicks in - a bit needless/annoying/wasteful. Is that meant to happen? It seems to be when I go through the N part of the gear selection. I'm not pausing in N but maybe am not that quick moving the lever yet... I find that if I am too quick moving the lever I overshoot and end up in P and that also causes the stop start to kick in but I guess I don't mind that! Just don't want it to kick in when I go through N. Any comments or advice please?

Secondly when I park up and switch off and open my door and go to open the sliding rear passenger door I find it is locked and have to use my key fob to unlock it. This is pretty much straightaway - 10 seconds maybe. The sliding door opens from the inside OK but not the outside. Is this normal?

Thanks in anticipation of your kind help!

have you got an option with the dashboard computer to adjust the key fob operation ?

for example, in my A6 I can set up individual keys to do different things.

So I can tell the car to unlock all the doors with one press of the key fob

Some people like only the drivers door to open with one press so they are safer, lone females etc

So press the fob twice to see if the sliding door is unlocked from the outside

You could always take the car back & ask the dealer ..................................... however I would ask for a demo on another like for like car, sometimes the salesman doesn't know .......... no fault of them ............... if you don't know, you don't know

Also ask if the car computer can program each fob you have to unlock all the doors with one press of the fob
    VW POLO 2002 1.2 12v , Audi A6 2006 2.0 TDi SE , Skoda Fabia 1.4 TDi

All 3 cars in the current fleet

    Thanks Niall,

my key fob currently unlocks all doors with one press and currently I'm fine with that. Interesting to know it can be reprogrammed though thanks. I suppose I can contact the dealer again but I worry I might be "fobbed off!" The salesman and I noticed the door issue at the end of the test drive but he said it was due to the child lock being on and I accepted that. However now that is definitely switched off and in any case should only prevent you opening from the inside not the outside. I'll email and maybe go back I guess. They have a few other Sharans - but all in S spec so might be different anyway.
