    i have got a a3 2.0l bkd engine code
when i bought it it had a bit of a judder between 1700-2200 revs in all gears from 3rd upwards i was told it could well be the flywheel, anyway at the beginning of the week it lost all power while the girlfriend was out in it, i came home from working away and plugged my scanner in and it came up with
    p0101 maf sensor
swapped one over from my ford galaxy (same part number) still a no go put suspect maf in galaxy and runs spot on
    p0401 egr
i think the egr as a blanking plate on or so im told and also told the engine managment light may have been mapped out as it doesnt come on on start up at all
i took it out for a drive and it was like it was in limp mode from the start there was a little white smoke but nothing excesive can anyone give me any advise and is there anyone in the bradford area that as vag-com and can scan it and do live data to help me get to the bottom of this problem
    car is
    2004 audi a3 2.0l (140) bkd engine
    thanks for any help

Check the air intake throttle flap / anti shudder valve is opening, this is the valve upstream of the EGR valve.

no, it is the throttle flap you want to check in situ, remove the spring horseshoe clip and rubber air inlet hose and see what the flap does with help of a mirror looking up into the throttle body.

did the flap close briefly when you turned off the engine ie. it's anti shudder function?. maybe the egr delete has deleted that function also.

it didnt move at all,i think the egr as only been deleted by a plate between the pipe from the cooler and the egr body, i dont seem to have a eml light on this car i would have thought it would come on briefly when ignition first goes on

It sounds like someone has done something to delete the EML, as that should be on if the EGR has been blanked, a p0401 code is logged and should come on with ignition. if the intake throttle isn't moving, it runs off the same fuse as the radiator fans - do they come on? Sounds like it's all related to the loss of power though. I think you need more in depth diagnostics than your scanner.
