After replacing faulty glow plugs and starter, i am wondering if my battery is weak

When i first get in the car in the morning, after the glow plug cycle the voltmeter never reaches 12v. Gets to around 11.5v. Just wondering if this could be the issue with my lumpy start for the first few seconds ?

Battery is only 18 months old , it is a vw battery. Think maybe the hard starts for a year have weakened the battery ??

    Cheers

I've just been out to measure mine, starts at 12.4v switched off and drops to 12.25 / 12.20v after a couple of glow plug cycles but not started (used a voltmeter).

My battery is just over two years old, a Bosch it was on it when we bought the car.

The specs I work to usually are a good new battery will be 12.9 to 12.7 healthy unloaded and if it gets down to near 12.0 without load, it's heading towards the door
as regards any full useful life to start a motor in cold conditions.

With a voltmeter on it while cranking I'd expect to see no less than about 10.8v as this would something like simulate the load test that battery shops do.

I've recently had very good results from "Varta blue tech AGM" batteries and supplied by "Tayna batteries" I've no connection with either brand, just that I'm impressed by
how well the Varta stands up to use or virtual (long periods with no charge) non use and still holds in spec. The supplier just delivered well packed and priced batteries
on time and no problems. I've used them on both cars and motorcycles.

Thanks for the info. Will measure my battery later with my meter. Yes it gets to 14v while driving.

Think that the knackered glow plugs / starter motor may have taken there toll on the battery. Drops well below 10v while cranking
