The MOT cannot check for a remap dpf off or any other. They do not have the equipment.

Not just yet...but new equipment and tests ARE in development and once they have been finalised WILL be rolled out as part of the MOT test. Might still be a fair while yet though before they are introduced. When this happens there will be an offload of 2nd hand modified diesels as Zollaf is predicting as OWNERS will no doubt have to return the car to stock even if they had no clue that their car has had the DPF filter element removed in the past.

It will be a frequently discussed topic later on and those who knowingly have their emissions systems altered or deleted cannot moan later on and can refer back to the many posts that said you shouldn't do this.

Manufacturers make constant changes to ECU files so even with equipment you need an expert to analyse the file before you know for sure that it has been changed so I doubt an ECU check will ever occur. Most likely thing is a tighter smoke test or an ECU "readiness" check as used in USA, Canada etc.

As for the OP. It is vital to reset the ECU to "new dpf" status after a clean or replace before switching on ignition for first time. This is because it resets the ECU internal counters. If this is not done correctly you will often get dpf errors that cannot be deleted because every time you delete the errors the counters will reset the error when the ignition cycles on.

As long as the OP resets to the correct value of 1 when running the DPF Replacement adaptation as 0 defaults to something like 20 when saved. A value of 1 will reset the Carbon Mass to 0.00
