    heyup,

    I have followed the forum over the years and enjoyed it very much. posted once or twice but just enjoy the reading and sometimes info updates.

    was wondering if anyone can offer advice regarding a software upgrade done on our CC 1.9 tdi bluemotion (140 we think), 10 months ago. say about november we started noticing the EML light on/off intermittently, and low and behold EML light has remained solid for past week.
    vw did a code read and whatever, asking for £60 then asked for further look for an hour £103 as first read stated sporadic egr faults- totalling £163. fair enough we thought and after the hour came back and stated just over a thousand pounds to replace EGR cooling unit. I asked if they take any responsibilitiy with software creating fault and they stated that had I came in a week or so after upgrade they would possibly have considered goodwill.not after 10months.

    so just looking for advice on few questions;

    1. are they correct in what they have said and have they been fair with code read price?
    2. where is EGR cooler unit on these engines and is it possible to replace myself on driveway/in my garage (a how to?)
    3. what are your thoughts on EGR delete / DPF delete software rewrite on this car?

    Thank you.

    3. Deleting the egr and dpf will make the car more drivable, powerful and do less engine damage and be more economical. .

    However there are legal and health issues with nitrogen dioxides and diesel particulates .

    More particulates are produced in the first place because of incomplete combustion through egr operation .
