I have a 2016 Audi Q3 with sat nav and am using a GiffGaff data only SIM to receive traffic news, "myAudi locations" etc. Unfortunately the traffic news is incorrect so we are being routed away from non-existent incidents and not warned about incidents that are ongoing. It's almost as if it came pre-loaded with some incidents that aren't being updated. I know that the connection is working as I paired the car to Audi connect with the eight-figure PIN and I'm able to send locations from Google Maps on my PC to the car. Long term roadworks seem to cause it the most problems with roads being deemed impassable when they are obviously open. Presumably sat navs work by joining up networks on nodes so wonder if the roadworks somehow screw the node connections???

I tried searching for sat nav traffic" on here but no results were returned. I tried "chat" on Audi's website but they just told me to take it to the dealer. I just wonder if there's another switch or control I need to tweak to make it work.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Kite, thanks for responding.

Yes, there's a white rectangle containing a logo of three cars and the word "ONLINE". There's another box next to it with "TP" in it - does that help?

OK. Your nav should re-route using live data.
Have you tried a MMI reboot ?

    The old 3 button press.
    Tone/centre knob/top right soft button.

Upper management is away in the car for a few days so I'll try that after UM returns, ta (and will let you know if that resolves it).

I can add a bit of info to this. I now have a 2016 Q3 with MMI plus. Mine is running using a 3 SIM card.
First question is did you activate the SIM in a mobile phone before putting it in the car? This can apparently cause some problems.
Secondly I can say that the Online Nav does pick up some useless data. Long term roadworks with overnight closures can be a bit of a problem during the day as they can be mis-identified.
Similarly traffic jams not on but near a turnoff on your route can be misidentified as delays. Typically on a road near my home there is a tailback but I turn off right well before it. The nav warns of it every time.
Worth trying the reset as suggested in case a traffic memo has got stuck in the system somehow.
Probably in a pit underneath a steam loco somewhere.

    Hi,
No, it's a data only SIM and hasn't been in a phone. I'm getting the impression that roadworks' data/info aren't very granular and your experience reinforces that view.

Yes, due in part to how the data is collected. The more of us who use online Nav data the better it will get. Each Audi using it transmits data back to indicate speed, location and direction.
There need to be enough "transmitting" vehicles to make the data really useful. Hence perhaps why jams on motorways and major A roads are accurately predicted and hold ups on minor roads less so.
