Hi guys, I've not posted here for a while as have been well busy away from cars.

My wifes 4 door 6n2 unlocks and locks via central locking on both front doors, as the knobs go up with a turn of the key, as normal. However, the drivers door will not open from the inside or the outside.

I have resorted to cutting a segment of door card away to operate mechanisms by hand inside the door, but something isn't letting go as it still wont open.

I've even had the wife pulling on door handle while I lay along seats and kick the door, still to no avail.

Any further suggestions would be appreciated before I cut the door off.

It's further compounded by the wife being disabled, if she's having a bad day and needs to do the school run, sliding across is not really manageable.

No idea if you've sorted this now, but your bowden cable is clearly at the wrong tension.

If you slam the handle hard (and i know this will feel horrific) using like your elbow or fist. It'll reseat and the door will open, only for it to happen again next time you close it. I would hazard a guess that the bowden cable is either too tense or too loose.

Thanks for answering Skezza. That is what Youtube et al suggested. However, the 6n2 door handle is old skool hard connected, there is no cable, the door handles interior simply hooks over the lever that is supposed to release the catch.

    Unfortunately, it's still like it.

Drill the barrel out. Now you will have a nice big hole in the handle. Get a torch have a look in the hole. You should see a slotted plastic section. This is where the the barrel paddle operates the the lock mechanism. Now get a nice long strong flathead screwdriver. Put it in the hole and smack it several times with a hammer. Door will open up when the deadlock spring has released. Now you need a handle with barrel and a key and a door lock mechanism. Remember to check the wiring during the replacement process.

Cheers FLAPPERKACK76. Might this still be the issue even though the knob has come up? If so, I've got no choice but to give it a go. Sure beats cutting the door off.

    Hey guys

I got the door open. It is fiddly but I used one of those cheap Torx bits and a 1/4" ring spanner to undo the bolt holding the door handle on. You have to have the rear passenger door open and it's a fiddly job but it works. Once I got the handle free via a flat screw driver and bit of jiggling, I then pulled the catch just behind the door skin and the door opened. I repeated it by locking and unlocking the car via the passenger door and tried again. So I deemed the door handle to be the culprit.

Closer inspection of the door handle revealed the thin cast flanges on the locking paddle to be broken, also the castellated bit at the bottom and from what can gather from further pictures, there's a third component, and that isn't even there. So I reckon once they're all present and correct, the wife will no longer have to climb through her car to drive it. Job's as good as done in my book. Hurrah.
