Update guys I've checked the cam shaft lobes and all seems good so I've booked it in with vw for a belt change I knocked them down on price to £360 my thoughts being they will have the corrrct tools for setting the cams I've mentioned to them that I suspect the cams are out of alignment causing my issue they said they will be using the pin and plate method to fit the belt so it will be set to vw set points they also agreed it could be my issue and it's very common on the bkd engine to have this fault so we will see what it's like when done booked in for 15th

Update today the car went to vw for a belt change and they are saying it still has a judder at idle they have said this could be an injector issue or clutch/flywheel where do I go from here guys my option is to hook it up to vagcom and check the cam settings again but I would have thought they would have timed it up correctly using the correct plate and pin method I did mention the timing of the cams and they said it's highly unlikely but they would have to hook it up to find out at further cost I would imagine

The problem is, VW dealers mechanics often don't even know what the torsion value is, represents or where to find it....

That I quite believe as they did not really have a clue what I was on about the good thing about them doing the cam belt is they do a health check video and send it to you so now I know what's needs doing for the mot haha I think I will get it hooked up again and see what settings are in there and adjust to the settings you mentioned and see what happens I will of course update again

Hi crasher a few weeks on now and all is still good with the rough idle issue 👍🏻 I wonder if you could offer some assistance with another issue I have it seems to have an intermittent starting problem maybe once every couple of months then a few hours later it will start now this issue first came about in the winter so I changed the glow plugs checked them out and all seemed fine then today it did it again try's to turn over but won't checked again in an hour started fine I've tried a few more times and it hasn't missed a beat any thoughts I did think it could have been something to do with the cam timing out but this can't be the case since I've had that sorted
