Ok thanks, will give it a go. Did you reuse the o ring off the old sensor or is a new one a better idea? I guess the O ring sits right down right at the end of the threaded part? (My new sensor came without O ring)

Thanks for all your help guys, it turned out to be 2 faults. One being a faulty connection in the LH door pillar and two the new sensor I got of ebay was a dud, replaced it with an original part now I'v got ice cold air con. The moral of the story is never buy rubbish off ebay!!

So this is my original fit G395 on my 2007 car (3.2 fsi Allroad) and I guess it looks the same as everyone else's. I can get my hands down there easily enough, but I can't see how a normal length spanner can get onto it without taking the bumper off, and even if I could solve that with a short spanner or pliers, etc then I have no idea how you could unplug the connector from the back side unless you unscrewed the sensor then pulled it forwards towards the radiator and unplug the connector afterwards. Any tips welcomed!

Will try again on this pc ! Lol, that small stabilizer bracket between the bumper. and headlight can be removed, then the plastic shield can be pulled to one side ( from memory you need to remove the torx screws in it, fiddly but doable ), then I used a small lump of wood to make the gap bigger between the bumper and headlight, which gives you room to get a spanner in there.

Be gentle on the fitting, it's soft alu, once it's just past handtight, stop, as the washer seals on a parallel shaft.

Fiddly ,but I did it this way without removing the whole damn bumper

Thanks for the info Tazman, I will give it a go. One of those things which looks impossible but if you know how then clearly there is a way. Might get a chance to try this weekend.
