    Long post warning!

Ever since buying the Audi a couple of months ago now it's been one thing after another, I basically bought a complete melon I think. I can't help but love and hate it at the same time, my heart bought the car but now my head hates it for all of its issues etc. So if anyone can offer advise etc that would be great.

Most noticeable issue is the vibration in 6th gear. It can be quite loud depending on the revs and my speed and after about 90mph it gets quite quiet although as soon as I decelerate it gets louder. It's only in 6th gear although in 5th gear you can sometimes feel a complete juddering throughout the car. I figure it's likely some kind of rotation vibration noise? It feels like I can feel the vibration from under the car but not sure where it's actually coming from. The noise gets faster with speed and slows down and is a little quieter when I decelerate. It doesn't go as quick as the wheels for instance it's quite a steady vibration sound if that makes sense? I'm struggling to find any definite solution to it and everything I've found so far leads to expensive fixes but no guaranteed results so I'm really hoping someone has an idea. The history of the car shows that the flywheel was changed back in oct 15 but don't have too much other history.

Other symptoms, possibly relevant but I'm not sure..

It's had an overboost issue and I've had the boost hoses popping off from the intercooler. I did the Mr muscle clean on the turbo and it hasn't gone into limp mode since but it does feel suffocated sometimes and like its being held back.

In the first few gears it was very kangaroo like as if I was a brand new driver driving in first gear? But it'd judder/kangaroo if I tried remain at the same speed, only when I flawed it would it stop and it wouldn't do it on every journey, just some. I changed the fuel filter which was saturated, completely black. The service light has been on since I got the car and I don't know how long it's been on before that. It's been sat for a long time too. Since changing the fuel filter it hasn't done any major kangerooing although I feel paranoid I can feel it ever so slightly but that could just be me?

I took the egr and inlet manifold off and gave them a good clean. The manifold gasket is shot and needs replacing. I also found coolant in there too! Not a good sign I know? It wasn't a lot of coolant but on the rest of the head (not sure if that's the correct term) it has white deposits that look as though they'd need sanding off to remove as if moisture has been getting in there?

I removed the cylinder head to inspect the gasket as its leaking a bit around the edges and everything was caked in oil, is this normal? I know there should be some oil in there but the glow plug housings etc were drowning in it.

I don't know which needs to be my main worry but the most significant one to me at the mo is the noise in 6th gear, it feels like everytime I'm driving it I'm damaging it even more.

Any help and advise would be greatly appreciated!

Apologies for the long post. I'm arranging to get it scanned as soon as I can to see if that reveals anything more.

    Thanks in advance..

I don't think this is anything to do with the three fault codes. I've had a look on the Ross-Tech site and Audiworld and none of the three fault codes would cause the vibration. Have you checked the wheel alignment? Reading this thread Vibration / judder on acceleration - esp in high gears when engine under load - Page 3 where similar problems were caused by wheel alignment.

Pro Tyre in Ferndown have always done a free check for me (and charged to do the alignment) and they're part of Micheldever Tyres which isn't a million miles from Bordon/Salisbury.

    You mean the cam cover?

Yes, it should be drenched in oil in there

Hmm interesting, I can't see anything from the fault codes either that seems to relate much to the symptoms although it's very good to know about them.

Anything has got to be worth a go at this point. I remember reading that guys thread a couple of times hoping I won't be going through the same expense with my diagnostic procedure! Thanks again for the scan, ragebe!

Sorry, yes. I'm not fully up on the proper names of everything but that picture is exactly what I saw and that's reassuring hearing that, thank you Crasher.

Yes, as long as it was not dirty and sticky but there is a huge supply of oil up there to 16 followers with hydraulic adjusters and two cams, 4 rocker arms and injector springs plus splash lube for the valve springs.
