On my A6 BiTDI (2015) I always pumped my tyres to what it said on the door (~40 psi). I got my new Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S tyres over the weekend and when I got them fitted the mechanic mentioned that they should all be around the 32 psi mark.

I would prefer to trust what Audi have recommended, but I am curious as to why the mechanic thought they should be lower, even though I showed him what it said on the door placard. He initially said it would be higher for higher weights, but the placard states that the rears should be on 48 psi under heavy load.

    The tyres I have are 255/35/R20 97Y.

He's probably had a look on Autodata or similar. I'd stick with what it says on your door. Better to overinflate then drop when you get home (and temperature has stabilised) than to have to reinflate at home. Just drive steadily for the first 200 miles or so and check bolts aren't loose.

I find that my Allroad is very sensitive to tire pressure and with it know having the summer tires on best when its over 7c and a bit of heat can build up in them. I have mine at 36 allroad which seems to work with with good even ware across the tires.

Already done 300 miles since they were fitted... grip is much better than the P-Zeros and not sure if it is in my head but the road noise seems lower. Really looking forward to pushing it when it's wet

The placard states 41 front and 38 rear, and 44 front and 48 rear when loaded.

The placard states 38 front and 41 rear, but I am a little confused because the front would be heavier so shouldn't it be higher?
On my 2017 BE which has 20" tyres, it's 45 front 42 rear. Fully loaded 45 front 48 rear.

There is also a 'comfort' pressure setting of 41 front and 38 rear for light loads. Not sure what that does to the tyre wear though.

Played with pressures from the first miles with notchy steering, found that more important is to have rear wheel alignment done on the opposite side of the margin, what they normally do. Found also that it needs re-alignment once a year or so. Well, our roads are maybe bit different.... Using standard 255/55-17 now GY UG which is smoother in worn, raily roads. The shoulder of a tyre makes much effect.

So I've set the fronts to 41 and rears to 38

I've noticed that with these new tyres, if I try and floor it on dry tarmac (from standstill) I often see the lack of traction light flicker on the dash and can feel the car struggling for grip. Is that normal?
