Morning all, I've recently bought a 2011 plate A6 and suffer from a well documented microphone issue when speaking to people on the phone. I have details of the service bulletin 2027718/2, but am not sure how Audi will respond to a car that is over 3 years old.

Part of me says it's a known issue, sale of goods act, should be free etc. Part of me says if it's £20 for the part it'll be quicker and easier to do it myself.

It's worth me spending a few £s to avoid the AUDI cost of diagnosing a fault should it not be the microphone so my first question is, if I go to my local dealer will they have details of all cars that have the fault fixed? (could have been fixed by previous owner in different part of country)

Secondly, I can't find from the bulletin is the part number to assess the cost; all it says is "See ETKA" so, does anyone know the part number?

The dealer will have full details of all work done on your car providing it was done by a franchised dealer (or an independent that has access to the VAG service system), As to part number look here Online Resource for Audi Part Numbers

I would just send the car to Audi and give them the fault and the TSB number or print ou the PDF and give them that http://ww2.justanswer.com/uploads/SU...nd_of_call.pdf

Just spoke to their service department who confirm the vehicle has not had any TSBs applied however she was unable to find any reference to any bluetooth TSB. I gave her the number but the upshot was they would need to see the car.
I'd have no objection to them doing this (sa it could be a different fault) but the hourly rate is £120. Even if they only take 10 minutes for the diagnostic it'll cost me £120 however they will "reduce the repair cost accordingly".

Many thanks for the on-line parts listing however the microphone part number looks like just a loom: 4H2035712

Dropped into dealership and spoke to their senior technician. He confirms it is highly likely to be the microphone but the TSB number 2027718 does not exist on his system (I even watched him type it in). He also checked for any other bulletins relating to microphones and bluetooth that might apply and found noting specific to my car.

Part number confirmed as 4H2 035 712 at a cost of £85 (ouch!!)

The TSB number you have quoted is from Audi USA and that is why it is not showing up in the UK. It may be that the problem relates only to US cars or to those with LHD and thus there is no UK equivalent for it.

Thanks John for this and the other responses.

I didn't push too hard with the local dealer, and have resigned myself to spending £85.

Morning all, I picked up the new microphone yesterday and fitted last night.
Interestingly the one I removed had 3 "microphones" and the one removed only had 2. I can photo the one removed but neglected to take one of the new part.

Just interested if anyone knows what the 3rd connector is? Visually it's the same size and shaped cylinder as the original 2, it sits further back and the light cluster has the right mounting point and cable supports so it's definitely meant to be there.

One of the microphones will be MMI system to monitor interior noise levels, so the volume is automatically adjusted. Just remove the 3rd microphone from the old connector and connect it to the new plug.

Hi guys I know it’s an old post but did the new mics fix the issue, I’ve just bought an a6 avant c7 and Bluetooth works spot on expect the caller can either barely hear the odd word or not at all, tried resetting the mmi etc and pulled the roof trim down and had a look at the 3 mics, can only think of buying a new set to try now
