    hi all,
i have just got a 2004 a3 2l tdi very cheap but it come with a judder, when accellerating in 3 gear and upwards it judders until it get up to speed when holding it at a constant speed it is fine, i have been told it could be the flywheel but is there anyway to check this before i go out and buy a new one and it turns out not to be the clutch at all. a complete clutch and flywheel was fit at 90000 it as now done 121000
    thanks for any advise

Unless the clutch was abused,or faulty,or incorrect type fitted,it should be good for another 100k miles at least,if the mileage is correct.

I.M.O. There is no definite way of defining d.m.f. failure, even the experts can get caught out.
The many symptoms of failure can be also produced by engine/drive line problems, which can make diagnosing clutch problems difficult.
When I got my A3 It had a slight vibration in engine on tick over,it also had a vibration/drone at about 60 mph which could be reduced by releasing throttle a minute amount.
When power was applied again the vibration/drone would reappear. The tick over vibration could have been mistaken for an engine misfire.
When I changed the clutch there were broken springs in it.
There were no other symptoms in my clutch to indicate problems ,but there could have be many as clutch problems can vary.
The new clutch sorted out my problems.
Can you find out how long your problem existed. and was it evident prior to last clutch replacement,as well as any more history available.

Then if possible, try and get as many people familiar with your model to have a look / listen and give opinions
to help you with deciding best course of action.
