A3 Injector Seal Kit

I have read quite a few threads regarding bad seals, but failing that, would you have any suggestions as to what else it could be?

some cars do suffer from this problem where the injector seal fails and blows combustionn gas into the oil, the psa 1.4 tdi found in small peugeots and fords is one, they blow on injector 2 and the soot clogs the filter in the turbo oil feed line. most cars however the gas just blows to atmosphere so you hear it as a chuffing noise. this is with a single copper sealing ring though, not a pd injector with its copper ring and o rings. if they do blow you will find a black slime in the fuel tank as the combustion soot is fed into the fuel and back to the tank where it will clog the in tank pump filter. this is a good check to see if there is a problem.

I take it that would mean that the fuel filter will be contaminated black also then?

possibly.. a duff tandem pump can also cause black diesel, oil contamination.. you need to confrim soot in the return to the tank so checking the in tank filter is more reliable.

The video shows the injectors when the car was running lumpy, about 5 mins after being started, and the picture shows the car at about 66 degress, with lumpiness gone. I take it that cylinder 4 is the obvious culprit ?

Had the seals replaced and no difference unfortunately !!
