Hello guys ! I have a problem and i decided to try my luck here. Volkswagen Passat B5.5 variant, diesel, 1.9 TDI PD AVB, automatically shuts off when hot after one second. Problems occurs when the car temperature is at 90 degrees ( hot ) ( as seen in the video ). When cold, the engine starts perfect. You can see a video with the problem here:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mkb5KoZ0Ojc&feature=youtu.be

Temporary solutions - When the car is hot and won't start normally, keeping the key pushed in final position and cranking the engine more ( for 3 seconds, even if it started ) will make it start.

    What I have tried:

    1. Both keys, problem still occurs
    2. Oil and filters change, problem still occurs
    3. Thermostat changed ( somehow it managed to get broken and water would never get to 90 degrees - this lead to a higher fuel consumption )
    4. Changed injectors o-rings with new ones and also cleaned the injectors, with no visible result.
    5. Disconnecting and cleaning the MAF sensor.
    6. Battery check to see if it is still good ( and it is )

VCDS Values - When car is hot ( 90 degrees ), idle and running:

    - _ - Unit Injectors valves command

    Engine speed : 861 / min
Spec start of inj : 0.9 *BTDC
    Spec inj. duration: 7.1 KW
    Synchro. angle : 1.1 KW

    - _ - Starting Conditions

    Engine speed rpm : 861 / min
    Start inj quantity : 16.2 mg/str
    Start Synchro : 1.0
    Coolant temp : 78.3 C

    - _ - Glow Plugs

    Glow status : 11111111
    Pre-glow period : 0.00
    Supply Voltage : 14.14V
    Coolant Temp : 76.5 C

    - _ -Charge pressure control ( it says 3rd gear - but the car was still )

    Engine speed : 861 / min
Spec. intake press : 1020.0 mbar
Actual intake press : 1009.8 mbar
    D.cycle MAP : 24.7%

    - _ - Air system

    MAF : 343.0 mg/str
    Atmos pressure sensor f96 : 999.6 mbar
Intake air press. : 1009.8 mbar
    Throttle : 0.0%

I managed to found only one person in Romania with this problem and me and him tried hard to find a solution in all kinds of services, from official VW to smaller ones. No one could help us with a good response, only with multiple ones. We are somehow desperate in finding a solution. Thanks a lot!

Change BOTH Coolant Temperature Sender Unit and Fuel temp sender unit

Go to VW and buy genuine ones, they are not expensive

Both will control the amount of fuel going to car engine
    VW POLO 2002 1.2 12v , Audi A6 2006 2.0 TDi SE , Skoda Fabia 1.4 TDi

All 3 cars in the current fleet
