18711 (P2279) - Leak in Air Intake System

I can't remember ever seeing this on a TDI, the petrol AXX engine yes but TDI....

If I had that, my first step would be to put my VAG1687 pressure tester on and look for leaks but this is quite a rare tool. However, many garages have smoke testing equipment so the procedure is to disconnect the hose from the air mass meter and seal this off with a plug and put air into the system through a port in the plug to detect leaks. The pressure applied MUST NOT exceed 0.5Bar.

This is a petrol but it is the same test and tool, ignore the arrow.
