I would really like some advise if possible, while driving I had a loud ticking noise that got faster with acceleration and as i got home to let the wife listen no acceleration the noise was more of a banging then nothing now wont even turn over! Just clicks when i turned the key.

Furthermore the father in law has taken off the starter motor and tried to turn the timing belt wheel with force and it seems to be siezed.

Is there anything else i shouldnt looking at or into before I start paying out to get fixed??

Apologies for such a long thread!

That does sound like it has seized up but firstly I would drop the poly belt belt off and see if it turns over.

I have never had any issue with a BRB oil pump even after 250K miles, apart from the occasional con rod failure they are bomb proof.

have a look along both sides of the block, see if you can see a con rod poking its head out.

Have you tried to move the crank? Obviously, take care because if it does move you could hit a valve.

Apart from morbid curiosity there isn't much point, the bottom end is going to be beyond cost effective help and you need have a think about the cars future existence. It's nothing special and you are probaly not that fond of it and in a couple of years it will become something of a liability to use so it's either start looking for a decent used replacement but I would caution against speeding very much money on an old diesel.
