handbrake light flashing and beeping

Hi all,
I have a 2002 reg VW Passat and in the last month or so, when driving, the handbrake light starts flashing and beeping for about 5 or 6 seconds. It seems to happen only in the morning as when I drive to work it may do this many times. But on the way home in the evening it doesnt happen at all. I think its ok for brake fluid as I opened the small cap next to the main brake fluid filler cap and it was full. Anyone got any ideas on whats causing this or what can be done to fix it?

You are not alone....

About two months ago my car, (2003 Sport) did exactly the same thing but just once. I stopped the engine, re-started and the warning went away.

Thought no more about it until about two weeks ago when the warning was given again, this time while driving!!!

Stopped and checked the brake fluid and found it low. I added more fluid and the warning has not reappeared.

My car is going in for service on Monday, soI will ask them to check the brake fluid level sensor in VAG-COM.
