Well Benten, you've ruined it for me as I thought I had the justification to buy an induction tool
. Anyhow, I called a few Audi specialists in the area to find out if they had any experience with this problem, and whilst they all said that they should be able to fix it, when I question on whether they had seen this before, they could not confirm this, so I did not take it any further. I then came across a company called Thread Doctor who specialises in removing stubborn or broken bolts, injectors etc. He said that he has fixed this problem 3 times at 3 different Audi dealers, but they had to take the gearbox out and on each occasion, the threads were stripped, hence his specialist skill. One of the dealers was my local one. I called them and spoke to their foreman and he said that it was not a problem and they could do it as part of the oil change. When I asked how confident they were. I got a very confident answer. So for an oil change, c. £200, this was a no brainer because if I were to mess it up, it would cost a fortune. I have therefore booked the cat in for the first week of May.
I will update you when I get the car back.
