    Hi Guys,

I have these lights on the dash and I cant get it checked for a code until after Easter, so I'm wondering if anyone can let me know what to expect.

The car is a 2007 Golf GT 170 with 156k on the clock. I have done most of those miles myself with very few problems. The DPF light has occasionally lit up before at the weekend when I just pop around town. Then when I drive to work (35 miles) it always goes out, and stays out for weeks.

This time it hasn't gone out on a journey and the engine management light has come on and the glow plug light is flashing and it's gone into limp mode. Like I said, as soon as I can I will get it in for a scan, but has anybody else had this issue? could it be a faulty sensor? or a knackered DPF. In my head those are the two extremes. I'm kind of committed to keeping the car for a bit as I've just had the clutch and dual mass replaced, and to be fair it runs like a swiss clock....until now that is.

I have read the sticky, but just wanted to know if anyone has had 1st hand experience of this issue.

    Regards
    Steve

My spider senses are saying you need either a dpf clean or replacement

Had this on my A4 2.0TDI 170 last year, but it all started with a faulty EGR and engine management light. To fix my issue I replaced the EGR (plastic gears were broken, otherwise a clean would have worked), replaced the differential pressure sensor (as a precaution), added Wynns DPF cleaner and topped the tank with diesel, then went out and did a forced DPF regen with VCDS. DPF light has been out since.

In your shoes I would clean the EGR, as there is no need to replace if not broken and do the same as what I did. I think my original DPF sensor was fine, but they are known for failing, so for £50 I replaced it, really easy to access on the A4, bolted to the bulk head.

Never considered the EGR being at fault, why is this affecting the dpf, my friend had to get a professional clean because the regent didn't work

It's the DPF. Would not respond to a forced regeneration so new one being fitted today. £350 + fitting.

Its my 2nd car it owes me nothing. I have no problem with things wearing out normally. I plan to get it to 300k miles. Just because I can.
