Flashing Glowplug Warning Light

Just had my Glow Plug warning light start flashing on the way home from work on my 2005 final edition avant (1.9 AWX engine). Has anybody seen this before? Does it mean anything else as a glowplug light coming on after a good 75 mile run doesn't seem to make much sense...!

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Engine management warning is via the glowplug light.

A really common one is the brake light switch.... are your brake lights working?

If yes, you will need the car scanned for faults.

Thanks Col, yes scanned it this morning (Autel 802) and it looks like I've not only got the 16955 implausible brake signal but also the 17664 G62 temp sensor open circuit (which seems to be another common one). Seem to remember having similar fun on a AVF powered B5 Passat so appears to be a regular VAG issue. Just need to check access so it doesn't encroach too much on my Easter break!
