    This is doing my head in, every time I go for an MOT this front offside driveshaft gater is twisted and ripped this is the 3rd time in a row, the cv joint was replaced about 3 years ago ever since then this started can anybody work out what I'm doing wrong?20170403_151213.jpg

    Ruddy heck that looks like a beaver has had a chew at that!!!!! Sorry to say I have no idea what is causing it but good luck and I hope you find the answer.

    its pretty chewed looking allright...... At a guess, I'd say that it has come into contact with diesel or other oil plus, looking at it as it is in the pic... seems to be very compressed, like a bellows in an accordion.. would need to opened out a bit for better flexibility. But this is only a guess, as I said in the absence of any other idea..

    It looks like the split originated around the clamping band on the driveshaft - could this have been overtightened and cut into and started to split the gaiter? It does look perished as well, as if some chemical attack. Do you use some sort of alloy wheel cleaner.
