    thanks again Rob,got my parts today now the fun starts..first problem front crank seal ,what a total t... to get on keeps folding out

    Sounds like this job has grown arms and legs, can't really visualise what you've got in bits, going from a water leak on the top to having the timing case cover off! did the crank seal not have a plastic sleeve to help fit it over the shaft end?

    turned into complete nightmare of a job,to replace crossover water jacket in v the front of engine has to be stripped as bottom screws cant be accessed hence the reason for new front crankshaft seal bought from audi at about 30 quid and no fitting cone came with it so its possible i have knackered the seal trying to slide it on with numerous home made tools ,and to top it all 70 quid for a front cover rubber seal,think i will stick to plastering walls in future

    mostly built back up now but i have lost a 2 pin plug which connects to the bottom of oil filter housing i have found one plug that could possibly fit the bill but i cant get it to reach.... unless i have routed it wrong before fitting inlets any ideas

    quick update,all fixed,new antifreeze and no leaks ,was an awful job to do,have done around 50 miles in q7 today and all seems fine ,heater working fine etc but does anyone know if 2011 tdi q7 engine has coolant bleed screws anywhere as i cant seem to find one ,im sure it has not got an air lock but i would like to bleed it to be sure ,thanks for help guys
