Seems like it's infront of the passenger footwell.

If I go over uneven roads then it seems to trigger but not on every rock so is a pain to find. I've had the wheel off and levered all the joints and cannot find anything.

Going around in a circle (forwards) doesn't trigger it so CVs are ok I guess.

On motorways doing 70 or so bumps make the car feel like it's darting right, I cannot get any play out of the track rod or bottom ball joint though.

Think I just need to wait until it gets worse

    Any ideas?

    Wheel bearing perhaps?

    Any noise with the symptom?

It sounds like it could be your console bush on the lower arm, get a wheel brace or long bar and socket and with the handbrake on turn the affected front wheel with the brace, see how much the wheel can rock back and forwards. I've seen it where the bush looks ok and seems ok when you try to lever the joints but putting torque through the wheel (as happens when driving) shows you how much play there can be in the bushes. It used to happen on my FIL's fabia as his area is infested with speed humps, he went through a few sets of bushes. drop links from the ARB or the ARB bushes could be another source but I've had drop links that were more of a rattle than the heavy clunk which was the console bushes

The very late Polo 9N (2010 model) and the 6R did not use a consul bush, they went back to the simple flat bush we first saw in 1984 on the Golf 2.

I can't tell the condition of the wishbone rear bush, it needs to be up in the air so it gets stretched to shows stress cracks but it does show the new (old) design. I have come across is certain late cars such as the PQ46 platform Superb which transitioned from consul style to flat style like the Polo 9N3 did, both in 2010. It makes selling Powerflex more complicated, you can bet if you don't cover these few oddball cars dozens of people will want them, offer them and they don't sell.

Had a bit of a google and the A05 looks to define the type as MK5. I'll try some of the tests people have kindly suggested and keep this thread updated, will likely be a slow burner though!

The chassis sticker has such a number! 6R1 4F2. It's buried in the VIN number as well

Yes that is the type number and often the type number is the 7th and 8th digits in the VIN BUT this is not always true. An example is the Golf 5 and 6, the 5 is a type 1K and the VIN shows 1K but the 6 is a 5K but the VIN still says 1K.

P.S. Saying VIN number is saying vehicle identification number number, just like people saying PAT test, it's PA test god dam you!
