    Hi guys,

A mate has just bought a grand's worth of 1.6 auto as above to use whilst his left ankle is injured. There's no cambelt change history so he's getting that done straight away.

The guy at the garage asked whether it was an 8v or 16v? Which would it be? The V5 hasn't come through yet so no clues to glean from there. Could it be either (i.e. there was an option) or is it definitely one or the other.

And is the cambelt kit different for 8v and 16v models?

    Cheers,

OK, obviously a bit of a difficult one........

Found the answer eventually, and not with Google's help.

As it's an auto, it has the BFQ 102hp 8v engine.

If it were a manual it would have the 16v 105hp engine. Apparently.

The 1.6 8v also came in manual, it is a far more reliable engine than the 16v.

That's good to hear. The engine in question is nice and smooth with 87k on the clock.
