    Please help
    my vw...golf mk4 won't drive faster than 5mph following a flat battery - I had no problems previous. Ive left the lights on, jumped started and now it has no power, won't rev - any ideas what is causing this? thanks in advance its 03 plate PETROL 1.6 Match

    Thanks in advance for any help / suggestions - I'm broke and really don't want to do another 10mile trek to work again,

    petrol, 1.4, 1.6, 1.8 turbo ???? i am thinking its a turbo and the turbo isnt coming in , am i right ?
    Audi 80 tdi avant with 360,000 miles...

    oh ok, i think you should start with a scan and clear any codes.. must be something simple stopping it working..
    Audi 80 tdi avant with 360,000 miles...

    I have no idea about scanning - can you just buy them at Halfords? is there a certain scanner I need? thanks sorry I'm a girl !

    being female is no excuse.
    you need to have the car connected to a computer, one such as vcds. most garages will have something, a vw specialist would be better, or you can look on the vcds user map and see if there is a forum member local who can meet you to see if they can help. a cheap generic obd diagnostic computer probably wont help ..

    I had this once when I left a mechanic, the issue was related to the battery fuse box. Somehow this mechanic tried to doubleXX me with an issue. The nut securing the red wiring to the spark plugs was gone. So no contact, so very easy to fix but if you are stranded like me on the highway, you won't see it through :P.
    My vw mk4 is an AKL '99 .
    Bought a nut @Gamma and no issues with the battery

    Or you need to check your alternator, that one should charge your battery.
    Checking the Battery voltage would also give you some insights, when crancked up , check with a battery meter for voltage 14,1V+
