So I've had my newish 63 plate gti for just under a week and I put fuel in for first time today. I put ordinary bp petrol in which I'm assuming is 95 Ron.

The label inside filler cap says minimum 95 Ron. What should really be used in a performance engine such as this and why? Or do you just carry on using cheapest fuel??

Ps. This is the 1st time I've owned a vw and a gti at that and it's the bees bloody nees lol

On a performance petrol I'd be using 97 as a minimum.

As Premium fuel can be pricey is it not worth buying regular with a bottle redex or similar?

If VW state 95 ron min. Stick with that or use higher octane for very slightly more power, and MPG.
Using 95 ron certainly won't do any harm.
