    Hello Everyone,

    I hope i am posting this in the right section. I own an Audi A4 B5 1995 1.8ADR, and since yesterday i am having problems with starting the engine.
    Yesterday i took off the battery to weld my final exhaust because it had a crack in it. After i have put the battery back on the car, i started it and i had no problems; i drove for 10 KM and then stopped the car for 2 hours. After 2 hours i tried to leave again and it started and died after 2-3 seconds ( in those 2-3 seconds, if i put down the throttle, the RPM will go up, everything responded ok). I have tried to clean the pins on the intake wires and on the MAF sensor. This did not work...i have tried to put the VAG-com to see any errors but i cannot seem to find the ECU with the vag-com ( i will try later to wire directly into the ECU with a wire from my OBD...maybe the wire is intrerupted or something );
    I want to mention that the dashboard gauges have been changed with UK ones around 5 years ago, and also i did IMO OFF back then and didn't have a problem like this until now.

    The only posible way until now to get the car running is to unplug the battery for 1-2 minutes and then put it back on. After i do this the engine starts and works perfectly for any amount of time, but as soon as i turn it off and try to turn it back on, again it dies after 2-3 seconds and i need to re-do the battery unplugging.

    I can't explain to myself why does it start after the battery is unplugged...maybe it resets the ecu and it starts in normal parameters? and after it runs it decalibrates itself? ( i hope i am not saying stupid things as i do not have that much knowledge in electrical car stuff )

    If anyone encountered this issue and maybe has a solution, it would be much appreciated.

    I have managed to fix the problem. It seems that the IMMO OFF i did before was not done professional and when i took off the battery and put it back on, a circuit between the pins on the ECU was intrerupted and the memory was affected. I did the IMMO OFF again and now it works perfectly.

    I hope this comes in handy if anyone encounters similar problems.
