Noticed recently that when stationary, engine on and breaks are applied there is a very slight vibration being felt through the car but mostly I can feel it if I rest my hands on steering wheel. Just wonder whether it's just my OCD, a quark of the car or something to worry about?

Does the same happen in park? Considering you are still engaged in drive mode the box is probably still waiting to move forward so u feel that through steering

Might depend on how slight the vibration is. I had somewhat similar issue, vibration from the steering wheel, especially when accelerating on low gears. Turned out the engine cushion/stabilizer/mount (I'm not sure about proper term) was faulty and leaking.
But in your case it might be different, e.g. I had few times A6 2.0 TDI Multitronic as courtesy car and the vibrations there were much stronger than on my 3.0 TDI S-tronic.

A straight 4 will always vibrate more than a V6

Just check - no vibrations if engaged in drive. I suppose you are right, every time I come to a stop it shows D1.

Now, that's interesting. I never move from D whilst stationary in traffic... Do people use P whilst stationary in traffic? Quite new to all this S-tronic things after manuals
