Battery issue, Audi A4 B8 2008 2ltr TDI

Hi All,

Hoping you can help please. I have an Audi A4 B8 2008 2ltr TDI with c. 120k mileage.

There is an issue with the battery. I have driven the car on a reasonably long drive (hour and a half) on the weekend, and then left it unused for a week. It was then completely dead and would not start the following weekend. It wouldn't even unlock with the fob. This has happened a couple of times now for the last 2 weekends.

Once jump started, it drives absolutely fine.

Would appreciate your advice on how to resolve this please. Is it a case of just getting a new battery? Or is it likely to be an alternator issue?

If it's the original battery I'd be replacing it as it's now 9 years old.

Do a voltage test on the battery, with the engine off the car battery should sit @ 11v and when it's started the battery should jump up to around 13,5v.

If this is the case then the alternator is doing its job,
So either the battery is old and not holding charge or you have a short circuit
