Steering Rack Part Number

Hi guys.
Apologies if this info exists already somewhere on the site but anyway - I've been told by Audi that I need to replace the steering rack on my 2013 A6 2.0tdi saloon.
The quote I got from Audi main dealer for a new fitted rack was mad money so I'm looking to source one from a breakers instead & get that fitted.
im wondering though - do all C7 A6's use the same steering rack part?
And if not - is there a way for me identify the part number of the rack that's fitted in my car currently without removing it?
Just want to make sure I buy the correct part so it fits my car.

Why do you need a rack?

I had a minor tip in the car and power steering has not been working since.
Brought it to main dealer for diagnosis.
they told me its reporting a fault with the steering rack j500 & it needs to be replaced.

im not sure to be honest - they didn't specify.
My own usual mechanic was away at the time so I just brought to main dealer to get a quick diagnosis.
i know he has some form of diagnostics which I could hook the car up to if needs be.
Why do you ask?
I shouldn't be taking what the Audi dealer says as gospel necessarily?
