Hey everyone, it's my first post here.

I have an 2005 Audi A6 Avant (54 Reg) that I have cracked the oil sump tray on. I hit a kerb a few days ago and it put a hold in the tray. All oil came out straightaway, I switched the car off instantly and it hasn't moved since.

After having a look, there was no A6 Avant Haynes manual ever produced, I'm searching for info to be able to repair online but it's limited.

Can anyone help me? I need to find out if it's a big job to remove the tray and fit a new one (I've found the tray on eurocarparts for £94) - is it just a case of remove the old tray and stick the new one on, being mindful of attaching the new sensor and dropping roll bar to get to one side of the tray nuts? Also do i need to buy a new gasket and silicone to attach the new tray? Also, is this realistically a job i can do at the side of the road? I'm fairly mechanically minded and have some experience.

Sorry if this has sounded a little confusing. I'm a bit confused myself....!

All help will be massively appreciated :-)

    Matt

You'll need a new gasket for sure, probably sealant for the corners, bolt torque settings, degreaser/ solvent to clean mating surfaces.

Would be helpful if you post your engine & gearbox combination.

Any way you can get the car home? Wouldn't have thought it is a side of the road job.
