Had my B7 2.0tdi serviced yesterday, full service with all filters done. Driving after picking it up and the esp light came on after 15 mins. Switched it off and light was out on restart, only to come on again 15 mins later.Has anyone any ideas as to what's likely to be wrong please?. Car runs fine when light is on

Possible abs sensor or millions of other things, get it checked with vcds as it's the only way to tell for sure, coincidence that it's just been serviced I would say

As above, get it checked with VCDS. Where are you located? If you are local to me I will do it for you.

it could be a dud cell(s) in the battery

the car checks the state out of the battery to see if the brakes will actually work after so long, possibly 15 minutes, my A6 is 8 minutes.

Took the car on the way home. Came up with a couple of faults. First was low alternator output. I've seen this raised whilst doing a search so may be some of the cause. Second was engine mount fault. They couldn't understand why the engine management light wasn't on. Its been reset and they suggested running it for a day and going back. The light came on again after a few mins so will go back tomorrow to see what comes up. Will post an update.

The alternator has possibly got a clutch system, which means the car tells the alternator to switch on & charge the battery

so replace the alternator like for like in make , so the car can communicate; been there and got the t shirt for wrong alternator bought

if your car has say over 100,000 miles, I would just fire a new or recon alternator on it

It's low mileage but yes I think a full replacement is the better option. Have used this place before and was impressed so hopefully I won't get ripped off!
