Hi guys. After having the D2 for a few weeks, the D3 4.0TDI that I was originally after came up for sale after all. Not being one to be sensible I jumped at the chance and now have a ridiculous eight cars. Ive had the D3 for a month or so now and I absolutely love it.

It has a dension AMI cable fitted which allows for USB, AUX and i-crap. I had a small USB pen drive fitted originally, then bought a 16GB one which I initially puit a few albums on. The other night, coming home form work I got an error message and the USB stopped working (cant remember the error message) I put the old one back in and it worked away fine.

I took the 16GB stick inside, tried it on the computer and it was working fine. I then put about 8 GB of music on it assuming it was just an MMI glitch that stopped it working. Now when I put the drive in it either just comes up "loading CD" or lists everything that was on the original small stick. In fact, it will list and play everything that was on the original stick regardless of which stick is inserted or even if neither is in.

Has anyone got any suggestions as to what might be the problem. I'm sick of the same four albums that it has mysteriously stored somewhere and really want to listen to the rest of the stuff that Ive got. Its a great sounding stereo and I have some great tunes to play on it! I disconnected the battery for a few minutes today thinking that might help but when I plugged it back in again it was still the same.

On the subject of MMI, the nav has a bit of a mind of its own. When i bought it, the PO said the DVD was missing. After it mysteriously worked one time, I decided to open up the DVD player in the boot and found the DVD in it. I unplugged all the connectors and when I connected it all up again it worked for a couple of weeks, then needed unplugged again.

There is a seperate hot start issue which means I have to jump it from a seperate battery now and again which could be causing all sorts of voltage irregularities. Also the battery although brand new isnt coded to the car which could also be causing issues.

sorry for the long post, any answers gratefully recieved. Gill

Sorry, can't help with the first issue, but on the second I had a similar issue with my A6 (C6) unit. I turned out to be the actual DVD player was on the fritz. I replaced it with one I bought from fleabay, and it worked fine. Either that, or try a different DVD.

thanks for the reply. i kind of wondéed about that maybe being the case. i'll persevere for now. having to pull the power now and again isnt really an issue. i dont need it on a daily basis and the maps are well oit of date anyway. something to go on the back burner for now, sometimes its nice to have something other than the cd menu on the screen thogh.

as for thw mmi/music issue o have discovered the mmi can be rebooted. going tp look into it a bit further before i try though.
